We have added a 5 km to this fast growing event. All races start together with a send-off to the sound off the Fish Eagle that are abundant in this pristine area.
The 5 Km fun run and 10 km run / walk is a out and back route following the edge of Island lake and Langvlei with a turnaround at 2.5 km and at 5 km leaving the 32 km runners to continue along the edge of the lakes. The 5 km and 10 km is very flat and does not rise more than a few meters above sea level with fast times possible or a easy walk as we have a generous 2 hour cut-off on the 10 km.
The 32 km is a circular route following the Lakes dirt road for 13.2 km and then a monster climb to 14.7 km (240 m). From here the route is fairly flat and joins the Hoekwill tar road at 19 km. Again it is flat going past dairy farms and through the town of Hoekwil when the descent to the finish starts at 28.7 km. The downhill is fairly gentle to the finish where you are welcomed back with music and to celebrate the finish of a fairly difficult route.
Apart from the cash prizes for the category winners the lucky draws are by far the most exiting basket you will find at any race in SA. We hand out spot prizes sponsored by:

Looking at these company’s you will see that we have the highest bridge bungee jump in the world, a tandem parachute drop from 10 000 ft, a tandem paraglide, a boat trip with oysters and wine and a weekend for two at the Hildesheim four star guest house. This certainly makes the prize giving something not to be missed.
