On behalf of our sponsors, Pick n Pay, Cape Times and New Balance, the Knysna Marathon club organizing committee would like to invite you back to join us at the Knysna Oyster Festival in July to run the Pick n Pay Cape Times Knysna Forest Full or Half marathon on 9 July 2011.
Entries will open on 1 March 2011
Registration and finish:
New 21 km route:
21 km profile:
21km: point to point. The course is tough, hilly and beautiful. The race starts in the forest with a challenging 3km climb then levels out with the rest of the route being fairly undulating. The infamous Simola downhill is testing on the legs to say the least and makes the last 4kms, which are essentially flat, feel like an uphill.
The Cutoff time for the 21.1 km will be 3h30min
42 km route and profile to folow shortly:
42km: Point to point. The course is tough, hilly and beautiful. The race starts at the same place as the half marathon, but runs in the opposite direction. The first 12km is uphill, which seems to go on forever. This levels out eventually and the run to the halfway mark is fairly undulating with some easy running. This is the time to enjoy the birdsong and sounds of the mountain streams. With about 10km to go the course takes a plunge which is tough on the knees. A challenge faces you here as you climb the other side of the gorge. The Simola hill descent once again challenges the strength of your knees, but after that the last 4kms are fairly flat to the finish at the Heineken Pavilion Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival Grounds, Waterfront Drive.
The Cutoff time for the 42.2 km will be 5h30min
Book your accommodation as soon as you can to avoid disappointment
The winners and categories prize money has been increased substantially
TOG BAGS:
